Naughton’s Nonsense

"May those who love us, love us.
For those who don't, may God turn their hearts.
And if he cannot turn their hearts.
May he turn their ankles
so we may know them by their limping."

I just found Charlie Daniels has a blog. It is quite well done and amazingly conservative for a Country/Rock star. Check out these two posts:

War! Filed under: — Nonsense by: Christopher G. Naughton @ 21:51:05

Ok I am sick of reading about how everybody is against this war. That is fine. I do not care. I support our President and his administration 100%. I support this war 100%. Yes I have many close friends in the military, all fighting so that other nations may experience the freedom to oppose war just like you. Yes we have had our failures and mistakes in war, such as Vietnam, and Korea; however we have had our successes, such as Japan, and Germany. The difference between our failures and success, is how much the American people rallied behind our President and troops. We have become too soft and gun shy since WWII, and I am ashamed for this once great country. We are trying to put an end to the oppression of a people (Hitler ring any bells or was that all hype too?), protect our homeland from terrorism (whether you want to believe it or not Saddam is funding terrorists and training them), and make this a better place to live. The liberals like to do things in the name of “saving our children”, are Iraq’s children excluded from this. Here is an article from the BBC. If this is not reason enough then we had no right to free the European community from Hitler. Hussein and Hitler are the same. But you know it is so much more comfortable to wash our hands as Pilot did and sit back and let things happen, because at least we did not kill anybody, and plus we’re over here and they are over there. If this were about oil we would have a much easier time going down to South America and taking their oil. First they are closer and second they produce more oil than Iraq. According to this site we are the world’s largest producer of oil followed by ten other countries before we get to Iraq, then there are seven countries in front of Iraq most of whom are our friends who are the worlds top exporters. We do not need Iraq’s oil, this is not about oil. So please stop whining, get behind our President and troops and let’s free the Iraqi people from the tyranny of Saddam and his buddies in al Qaeda.

Something New! Filed under: — Nonsense by: Christopher G. Naughton @ 1:24:47

I was thinking of trying something new. What you ask? Well I was thinking about letting you the reader e-mail me, blog suggestions, questions or comments so that I can spout some of my foolishness and sometimes wisdom based on what you want to hear. Now this does not mean that I will stop blogging about what I want to blog about, it just allows you to have some input. I want to see how this goes, If it takes off I will move it to another blog, if not then not. This is just an experiment, I do not even know if I will like it or if anybody is reading this, so I just do not know how it will go over. But it sounded like something fun to try. So let the e-mail fly!

Funny Nostalgia Filed under: — Nonsense by: Christopher G. Naughton @ 8:13:18

The below post of Saint Ephrem’s Prayer is one of my favorite prayers that we Orthodox pray during Lent. It is in fact dear to many people because it is a prayer that we pray every week during Lent to help prepare us for Pasch as it reminds us what Lent is all about. Now the funny nostalgia part. As many of you know I love Star Wars and I especially love Star Wars the Roleplaying Game. Well it was a typical gaming evening and the evil villain (can’t remember his name but it implied his evilness in good Star Wars fashion) was hot on our tail with his superior technology and forces. Then suddenly in a inexplicable Star Wars-esque turn of events we were face to face with this epitome of evil. Our brave Jedi decided he would step in and sacrifice himself for the greater good of the galaxy in a Christ-like fashion, so using the force beyond his capabilities he completely and utterly erased the mind of the villain. For you SWRPGers out there fortunately or unfortunately the gamemaster did not see this as a selfless, sacrificial act and gave the would be hero 5 DarkSide points stating that erasing someone’s mind is evil no matter the target’s evilness or your intentions. Anyhow we now had a technological genius with no knowledge of who he was, so we had to give him a new identity and integrate him into our group. His new identity Ephrem Steve. So now I chuckle when we pray the prayer of Saint Ephrem and it takes me back to that evening a Long Time Ago in a Living Room Far Far Away!

Fasting Filed under: — Nonsense by: Christopher G. Naughton @ 8:21:38

To fast without prayer is a fast of demons. The demons do not eat or pray, yet they still fully acknowledge the presence of God!

New Hummers Filed under: — Nonsense by: Christopher G. Naughton @ 9:08:50

Well I just do not get the point of the New Hummers. Hummers are supposed to be cool lean mean military machines, that if you were wealthy enough you could get a hold of one. Now they are beginning to look like every other SUV on the market. Oh sure you still have to be wealthy to get one, but now all you get is a SUV with a Hummer stamp on it and something that vaguely resembles its indestructible tank like predecessor. I was very shocked when I saw one of these on the road the other day, and began to laugh because it reminded me of every other SUV on the road. The Hummer is losing its distinctive cool factor.
